Traditional Rice Pudding

A classic Pakistani dessert! Here's a simple recipe for Sweet Firni, a traditional rice pudding: Ingredients - 1 cup long-grain rice - 4 cups milk - 1/4 cup sugar - 1/4 teaspoon salt - 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom - 1/4 teaspoon ground saffron threads, soaked in 1 tablespoon hot water - 2 tablespoons ghee or unsalted butter - 1 tablespoon chopped pistachios or almonds - 1 tablespoon dried rose petals (optional) Instructions 1. Rinse the rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside. 2. In a large saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, salt, and ground cardamom. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves. 3. Add the soaked rice to the milk mixture and cook, stirring constantly, until the rice is cooked and the mixture thickens. 4.
